Edward Lutz Obituary

Died: April 22, 2025 in Barrington, IL
It is with heavy but full hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Edward Robert Lutz on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Ed was born in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Adam "Ed" and Sophie Lutz. He attended local schools in McHenry County and graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School class of 1959. Ed married his sweetheart, Kay Rasmussen, on May 12, 1962. Together, Ed and Kay built a story book life together, raising their kids in Crystal Lake, IL and then in McHenry, IL on the Fox River.
He had a long career as an electrician. He worked as a shop boy for Reinicke Electric, became a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 117, as a journeyman wireman electrician. He was appointed assistant business manager in 1973. He was then elected business manager in 1993 until his retirement in 2005. He served on the executive board and the JATC. Additionally, he was involved with the McHenry County Building Trades.
Ed and Kay made several trips to their home in Fort Myers, FL as snowbirds and made numerous friends along the way. He loved fast cars, snowmobiles and boats. His boat could be heard before he was seen on the Fox River. He was a member of the Crystal Lake Snow Tigers.
Ed will be lovingly remembered for the wonderful memories he shared with his dear family. He remains forever in the hearts of his loving wife Kay, his children Holly and Tom (Joan) and his grandchildren Kellie and Jay. Ed was also fortunate to share a life with his many in-laws, loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 3500 Washington St, McHenry, IL 60050.
In lieu of flowers a charitable donation to the Alexander Leigh Center for Autism, 4100 Veterans Parkway, McHenry, IL 60050 would be greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will take place this summer.
