Edward Lee Grant Mains, age 70, passed away December 11, 2023 in Abingdon, VA. Edward was born November 2, 1953 to the late Ulysses and Verna Mains. He was born in Johnson County and at a young age moved to PA where he spent several years before returning to Mountain City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward Mains, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ellen Mains, Mary Elizabeth Mains; sister-in-law, Betty Calhoun and brothers-in-law, Barry Fortner and Banney Fortner.
Edward was a man of strong faith, who loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a wonderful musician and singer and a faithful follower and supporter of the Charles Stanley Ministry. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 47 years, Brenda Mains; son, Michael Mains of South Carolina; sisters, Janice Massey of Oxford, PA, Helen Reid (Tom); brother, Paul Mains (Dawn) of West Grove, PA; grandchildren, Jamie Mains, Bella Mains; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Gwinn of Mountain City, Beverly Testerman of Galax, VA; brothers-in-law, William Towler of Fries, VA, Ricky Fortner of Elkton, MD; special friends, Lesa Pope, Arlie Hodge; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Phillippi Cemetery with Daniel Jones officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Mains, Tom Reid, Michael Mains and Arlie Hodge.
The family would like to thank the staff of McDonalds for always making Mr. Ed feel special and the staff of Mountain City Care Center for their compassionate care.
