Edward F. Martin, 72, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday morning with his family by his side. His wife of 46 years is the former Karen Kirwin.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late John Paul and Dorothy (Dickert) Martin. He was a member of St. John Vianney Parish. A United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, Edward was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School in Rochester, N.Y., and an honorary graduate of South Catholic High School in Scranton, Pa. Prior to retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a social butterfly who made a friend everywhere he went and was active in many social circles and community organizations. He shared a deep love with his family and will be dearly missed. His memory will always bring joy and laughter to those who knew him.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Keith and wife, Rena; their children, Gavin and Carter; daughter, Ruthann and fiancé, Gaurang Pote; daughter, Kathleen and husband, Marcus Hoover; and their daughter, Ruby.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jay Martin.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Geisinger Medical Center, Dr. Diane Ciaglia and the hospice staff at Traditional Nursing Services for their care.

In accordance with his wishes he has been cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Parish, 704 Montdale Road, Scott, Pa., celebrated by the Rev. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor. Friends may call at the church prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
