Edward E. Matsko

1939 - 2025

Edward E. Matsko, "39,"' of Norvelt, passed away on June 27, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of passion and dedication, having spent his life as a skilled mechanic. Edward lived and breathed cars, participating in many regional car shows for which he won many first place awards and dedicating 55 years to the thrill of drag racing, in class racing, with his beloved Chevy A-Go-Go in both the NHRA and IHRA. His driving skills on the track earned him numerous awards and the honor of being inducted into three Hall of Fames. He held numerous class records. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Elizabeth Matsko; brothers, John, William, Victor, Joseph, and Richard; sisters, Virginia, and Helen; and brother-in-law, Paul Bash. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Isabel; special niece, Lori (Lew) Stolitca; nephews, Scott (Jenn) Bash, and Chris (Heather) Bash; and many other cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Terry Riehle, and Kathy Bash; and brother-in-law Charlie (Tracy) Bash. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mount Pleasant Road, Norvelt, and again at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. In his own words, Edward always told everyone he was "39 years old," a testament to his youthful spirit and love for life.
