Edward McCusker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Edward F. McCusker, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and sons. Age 80.

Devoted husband of Geraldine (Gerry) McCusker (nee Nuzzi). Beloved father of Ed McCusker (Heather) and Tom McCusker. Loving grandfather of Eddie, Will, Mason, Katie and Nolan. Dear brother of Dorothy Rapp (Bill). Also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy McCusker and his beloved daughter, Teresa McCusker.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He began his career as a package handler then feeder driver (18 wheelers) for UPS until his retirement after 38 years of service. After retirement, Ed worked as a greeter and driver for Gardner Funeral Home for another 16 years. Ed took pride in always being a safe driver and received many awards to thank him for keeping everyone around him safe.

Above all, Ed was a family man. His family meant everything to him. He would come home from delivering packages all day, grab a quick bite which was always kept warm by his loving wife Gerry, then head out to the baseball field, softball field or hockey rink to support his kids. He was a volunteer coach, umpire and fireman. He watched his children grow with love and pride, always putting their needs before his own. He was the epitome of selflessness.

Ed loved his grandchildren with fierce compassion. He never missed an opportunity to see one of his grandkids play a sport, receive an award or just carpool them wherever they needed to go. He was always on standby for anything they needed, and it gave such comfort to have him as a constant in their lives.

Ed and Gerry recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in April. Their love for each other was unwavering. They showed through example how important give and take was in a relationship and why we should never give up on each other even through the toughest of times.

We will miss Ed (dad) sitting in his chair on his favorite porch doing his crosswords and looking forward to talking about Eagles and Phillies games. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, everyone loved to hear what he had to say.

There will be a visitation from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Church, Williamstown. Memorial Mass 12:00pm in the church. Inurnment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing.
