Edward Metry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Jan. 30, 2026.
Edward "Eddie" Metry, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed peacefully on January 29, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was born in Fresno, California, to Mike and Mary Metry. From an early age, he was known for his patience, quiet wit, and warm presence. He grew up surrounded by his Lebanese heritage and carried these traditions forward to his own family.

In 1960, Eddie married the love of his life, Shirley Naiser, marking the beginning of a 66 year marriage filled with love and happiness. He was a source of wisdom and the quiet strength of a lively, loving family. His heart was fullest when surrounded by those he loved.

Eddie proudly served in the United States Army and later in the reserves, achieving the rank of staff sergeant during his seven years of service. After the Army, Eddie owned and operated Reliable Printing Company for over 50 years.

As a member of St. Michael Orthodox Church, he served faithfully with humility and reverence as a chanter in worship services for over 65 years.

Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; children Stephanie Metry, Matthew (Kimberly) Metry, Susan Metry, and Stacey (Mark) Campisano; grandchildren David (Julie) Metry, Christina (Michael) Wekall, Danielle Smith, Julia (Adam) Johnson, Joshua Smith, Nicholas Smith, Mark Anthony (Erin) Campisano, Alec Campisano, Noah Weule, and Austin Weule; great-grandchildren Tyler, Leah, Olivia, Naomi, Max, Silvia, and a baby girl on the way; brother, Knobby Metry (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Mary Metry, siblings Raymond and Shirley, and great-grandson Ezekiel.

Visitation for Eddie will be from 2-7PM on Sunday, February 1 at St. Michael Orthodox Church, 3701 St. Michael Church Dr, Louisville, KY 40220. Funeral will be at 11AM on Monday, February 2 at the church, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the St. Michael Welfare Ministry or Building Fund.
