Edward Allen Milgate, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on May 21, 2023, at the age of 83. After a long battle with cancer, Edward died peacefully at his daughter's home.
Edward was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 9, 1939. During his school years, Edward stayed with his sister, Goldie Louise Clark, of Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduating from Byrd High School in 1957, Ed enlisted in the Air Force. Edward said his life began when he married Frances Eleanor Brown from Shreveport in 1962. After his service in the Air Force, Edward moved to Shreveport where he worked for several companies including Chevyland, Shreveport Armature Electronic, Jack Cooper Transportation, and Ryder Transportation.
Edward was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Edward was predeceased by his parents; his three siblings, Goldie Clark, William B. Milgate, and Marie Baer; and his wife, Frances Brown Milgate. He is survived by his two daughters, Judith M. Rongey (Robert) of River Ridge, LA and Pamela M. Stephens (Gregg) of Elmgrove, LA; his two grandchildren, Airman Edward Colt Taylor and Jody Faith Frances Taylor; and his nephew, Jeff Milgate.
A visitation for Edward is planned for Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Forest Park Funeral Home at 1201 Louisiana Ave., Shreveport. Services will be held at the graveside at Forest Park West Cemetery on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 10 a.m. The cemetery is located at 4000 Meriwether Road in Shreveport.
Edward loved the Lord, his family, and his church family. A special thanks to Heart of Hospice of Gretna and to Notre Dame Home Health of Metairie for their special care in Edward's last days on earth.
