Rev. Edward Moore

Rev. Edward Lee Moore, 74, of Paris, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00am, Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Chapel with Mark Sanders & Doug Holt officiating. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery in Paris. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 6pm to 8pm.
Edward was born April 23, 1948 in Powderly, TX, a son to Lee and Roxie Moore. He grew up and attended school in Powderly. After graduating High School, Edward joined the Air Force, and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After serving his Country, he started working at LTV in Grand Prairie, TX. During this time of his life, he had two life-changing encounters.
First, he was saved at Garland Church of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17 sums up Edward's life after his encounter with God. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new."
Second, he met the love of his life, Rebecca Conger. They were married in December of 1978, had 3 children, and celebrated over 43 years of marriage together.
During the 1980's, Edward pastored Churches in Palestine and Mount Pleasant, TX, while also working at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in those towns. His faith in the Lord continued to grow during this time.
His faith would be tested in August of 1988, when he received a cancer diagnosis that would both challenge and embolden that faith. During his 2 year cancer battle, many people witnessed a trust in God like they had never seen. Edward said about his cancer battle, "Man said I had a fifty-fifty- chance of survival; BUT God said I had a 100% chance." This became the rallying cry of his life. He believed God healed him and left him on this Earth to reach the lost, and boy did he ever do that.
After he was healed from cancer, he started working at the Water Treatment Plant in Paris, TX, where he would retire in 2013 after working for 23 years, rarely taking a sick day. He credited God alone for his remarkable health that he had during these years. During this time, he would take every opportunity to preach the Gospel to the world. He preached a Tuesday morning service at Legend Nursing home for over 10 years. He was also active in ministry at the Lamar County Jail, and Bonham State Penitentiary, giving hundreds of Bibles out over the years. For many years, he was a Chaplain in the local Hospitals, and enjoyed spreading joy to those who needed it most. His most active ministry was to anyone who he would encounter in Grocery Stores, Banks, or any other public place. He was willing to pray for anyone who needed it. When he said he would pray for you, he meant it. The number of people that were led to faith in God by Edward (also known as Bro. Moore) is impossible to count. His life mission was to spread the news of the Gospel, and he lived that mission well.
Edward had many interests, notably playing pool. Family and friends were always shocked seeing this Preacher-man turn into a Pool Shark with the hit of a cue ball. He also loved playing 42 online. Over the years, his 42 online friends became like family, and he continued his life mission encouraging and praying for these players, even though he only met a few face to face. He loved singing songs, and would often sing a silly, spontaneous song to make you laugh, followed by a serious Gospel song that might make you cry. He said laughter was like medicine, and he loved making people laugh. His Donald Duck voice was legendary.
For over 30 years, he was a member of the Paris Church of God, and loved the Church and the Members dearly.
If you are reading this and you haven't placed your faith in Jesus, Edward wouldn't want to miss this moment to tell you that Jesus loves you, and he can turn your life completely around. Just put your trust in Him, and He will forgive all of your sins.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Lee Moore; Mother, Roxie Moore; sister, Patsy Whitney; and nephew, Jonathan Harris.
He is survived by the love of his life, Wife, Rebecca Moore; Children - Son, Jeremy Moore, and wife Sabina; Daughter, Anna Michelle Snow, and husband Tye; Son, Michael Moore, and wife Happy; Grandchildren - Katie, Becca, and Ishak Moore; David and James Snow; and Sophie Moore; 7 Sisters - Linda Fendley, Elfredia (Bobby) Newman, Glenda Darlene Garcia, Mary (Ed) Fitzpatrick, Cindy (Gary) Daniels, and Shelia McCann; Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his Great Nephew, "Miracle Baby Kolson" Lizardo.
Pallbearers will be David Snow, Ishak Moore, Billy Newman, Rick McCann, James Smith, and Louie Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Snow and Vonte Edwards.
