Edward Monroe Moose, 85, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.
Edward was born January 20, 1938 in North Carolina to the late John Daniel Moose and the late Nannie Victoria Bost Moose.
He was also preceded in death by wife, Ruth Ann Moose and son, Edward Monroe Moose.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Jill Rhinehart. Burial will immediately follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.
Survivors include daughters, Betty Lowder, Cynthia Moose, and daughter-in-law, Elsie Moose; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Moose retired as Sgt.1st Class from the U.S. Army in 1983 after 27 years of service. He was a counselor at Nazareth Children's Home and a member of SCARL (Stanly County Animal Rescue League) where he fostered and adopted out numerous dogs (and kept many of them). Edward enjoyed coin collecting, watching westerns and Judge Judy. He was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his friends and his dogs but also appreciated the quiet times.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue of your choice.
