Edward A. "Ed" Murin was born on July 31, 1961, at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ, to Audrey and Andrew Murin. He joined his older sister, Maryann. The family lived in Linden before settling in Clark when Ed was nine years old.

He graduated from Arthur L. Johnson High School and went on to study liberal arts at Union County College. He later transferred to Seton Hall University, where he earned a degree in Communications/Film. Ed dedicated 25 years to the Clark Board of Education as a computer technician. During that time, he also completed education courses at Montclair State University. He retired in 2011. In the last year of his life, Ed began working as a driver for Mount Carmel Guild, where he was warmly embraced by both staff and clients for his friendly, caring demeanor. Ed had a lifelong love of working with his hands, and one of his fondest memories from his youth was spending time in the 1970s working on a medium lime green Mustang, a project that sparked both pride and joy.

In 1977, Ed met the love of his life, Susan. They were married on July 19, 1992, and spent the first decade of their marriage in their new home in Clark with their dogs Angel and Jessie. Their greatest joy came with the birth of their daughter, Nicole Elyse, on January 7, 2002. Together, the family welcomed and raised many pet dogs (Libby, Toby, Chance, Kody, and Jangle) who lovingly watched “Daddy’s Little Girl” grow up. In later years, Ed also cherished his cats Machiato, Latte, Caramel, and Sylvester. Ed and Susan treasured their long walks with their dogs through Clark, Cranford, and Westfield, often taking time to talk with neighbors or enjoy the simple beauty of their community. Ed also appreciated a good slice of pizza and loved discovering new spots to enjoy one together. Ed had many passions. He loved exploring genealogy and history, enjoyed music—especially The Beatles, John Denver, Neil Young, and Bruce Springsteen—and never missed an opportunity to watch the news or episodes of Chicago P.D. and Law & Order: Organized Crime. He valued conversation and connection, and he especially enjoyed visiting Veselka and Junior’s in New York City for pierogi and cheesecake. He also loved attending German and Scandinavian festivals, as well as the St. Thomas Flea Market, always in search of great pierogi.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Andrew Murin. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Sue), his cherished daughter, Nicole, his sister, Maryann, and her children, Frankie and Dana. Family and friends are invited to Ed's visitation and Life Celebration will be on Thursday, November 20th, from 4–8 p.m. at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, NJ. His Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Friday, November 21,2025, at St. John the Apostle Church, 571 Valley Road, Clark, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital. Please go to: www.grayfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences.
