Edward Earl (Ed) Nugent, 80, of
Grayson, Kentucky, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 18, 2025 at Community Hospice Center in Ashland. Edward was born on January 28, 1945 in Hawesville, Kentucky the youngest of seven children to Vernon and Edna (Rearden) Nugent. He made his livelihood as a locomotive electrician for CSX Transportation and retired after 36 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard from 1965-1969. He was an active member of Gregoryville Christian Church and former member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church in
Grayson, Ky. He enjoyed traveling, going to church and spending time with his neighbors, fondly referred to as the "gazebo group". He was kind, warm and friendly and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Few things brought a smile to his face like the mention of his grandchildren. Edward made it known that he didn't hear well, but that did not hinder his effort to speak to whomever was around. His smile was genuine, as was his entire personality. His hobbies included woodworking, birdwatching and general piddling in his garage. Surviving Edward are two daughters, Dana (Leonard) Hood of Catlettsburg, Ky and Karen Brammell of Grayson. Four grandchildren including Jack, Josh, Joel and Jenna Brammell, his sisters, Violet Nichols and Doris Sue Pritchard of Hawesville, Ky as well as several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Connie (Johnson) Nugent, as well as his sisters Lillian Jacobs, Lavetta Jackson and brothers Elvin Nugent and Leroy Nugent. Visitation will be Monday, June 23 at Gregoryville Christian Church from 5-8 pm and on June 24 from 9 am until time of service. Funeral services will be held at Gregoryville Christian Church on Tuesday, June 24 at 11:00 am with Bro. Ron Arnett. Interment to follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County Ky.
