It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward Autrey Perdue, known as "Ed," at the age of 89. A longtime resident of Fayetteville, TN, Ed was born on August 5, 1935, in Danville, VA, to the late Samuel Perdue and Bessie Sutliffe Perdue. He passed away on February 28, 2025, at Viva Senior Living in Fayetteville.
Ed dedicated much of his career to healthcare administration, serving as the hospital administrator at Lincoln Medical Center from 1969 to 1991. As a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, he taught the Men's Sunday School Bible Class for many years before relocating to Florida. He was also an active member of the Fayetteville Rotary Club and served on the Lincoln County Fair Board.
Beyond his professional and community commitments, Ed had a passion for golf, cycling, and cheering on University of Kentucky basketball.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Graham of Fayetteville; his son, Christopher Perdue (Cindy Ruby) of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Ariel Farmer (Blake); and great-grandchildren, Brody Phelps, Brock Farmer, and Bronner Farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Mills Perdue.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens with Mark Roscoe officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
