MORTON - Edward E. "Bud" Pittenger, 83, of Morton, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born on June 26, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to William E. and Edna Lucile (Williams) Pittenger. Bud married Linda "Rae" Pittenger on October 16, 1966, in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2020.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Pittenger and sisters-in-law, Dixie, LaDonna and Cher Pittenger.

Surviving are his children, William Pittenger of Peoria, Jennifer Eden of North Pekin and Vicki (David) Hawkins of Hanna City, Illinois; granddaughter, Jessica Hawkins; and siblings, James Pittenger of Lakeland, Florida, Robert Pittenger of Brandon, Florida and Thomas (Carol) Pittenger of Springfield, Illinois.

He was a United States veteran having served with the Army as a corporal from 1962 to 1965, while stationed in Turkey and Germany.

Bud retired from the information technology department at Caterpillar after 37 years.

He was a cherished member of Morton Methodist Church. He was a devoted follower of Christ while ministering with the Men's Bible Study and Methodist Men's Group. Bud was a lifelong learner and member of the traveling group, Osher Life Learning Institute (OLLI) at Bradley University in Peoria.

Bud enjoyed listening to southern gospel music and traveling to Texas and Florida for the winter months. He was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Morton Methodist Church, with Pastor Bill Novak officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1 and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, April 2, prior to the service, both at the church.

Memorials may be made to Morton Methodist Church or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
