Marquette, MI - Edward Paul Prosen, 93, passed away at his home in Marquette on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Edward was born in Marquette on February 6, 1930, to Anna and Joseph Prosen, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was the youngest of eight children. After graduating from Marquette Senior High School he married the love of his life, Edith Koski on September 23, 1950. He worked at the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad for many years.
Edward's favorite pastimes included being with his family, reading and talking about history, walking his dog, working crossword puzzles, and carpentry. He was an avid fisherman, spending many hours along the banks of the Chocolay River, the Dead River, and the Carp. He met many wonderful fishing buddies at those fishing holes.
Edward is survived by his wife of 73 years, Edith; three daughters, Christine (Steve) Platt of Charlottesville, VA; Cynthia Prosen (Thomas Schacht) of West Bloomfield MI; and Barbara (Bill) Quinlan of Traverse City; grandchildren Stephen Platt, Alexander Platt, Benjamin Platt, Joseph Schacht, Keturah Schacht, Eric Schacht, Lauren Quinlan, Ryan Quinlan, and Kevin Quinlan; great grandchildren Juniper Platt, Allison Roscoe, Ian Roscoe, Juliana Schacht, and Rosalind Schacht; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and by siblings Anne, Joseph, Victoria, Rudolph, Mary, Josephine, and Frank.
There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to UPAWS.
