Edward Hays Reynolds III, husband of Cherry Dillard Reynolds, passed away after a 27 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Thursday, May 11th, 2023 in Greenville.

Born October 20, 1951, he was the son of the late Edward Hays and Suzanne Reynolds. Hays retired from the family-owned Reynolds Company after 28 years. He then completed his career working at C. Dan Joyner Commercial. He grew up fishing the creeks of Pawleys and Litchfield and loved his many hunting trips to the Hermitage Plantation. Hays leaves many friends behind including his Presbyterian College brothers, those he grew up with, and those he worked with for so many years. He was known for giving nicknames to close friends that remain intact even today. His sense of humor and dry wit were trademarks, even till the end. He was known by many and loved by all.

Hays was preceded in death by his eldest son, Hays IV. Hays is survived by his wife, Cherry, his children and spouses, Charlie (Heather), Lee (Zach) Freeman and grandchildren; Hank, Coleman, Hays, Cooper, Charlie, Reynolds and George.  He is also survived by his siblings, Lex (Lib), Susan, Jackie (Parks) McLeod, and Neel (Pam), along with many nieces and nephews.

The Reynolds family would like to thank the many people who have shown such love and support to Hays and his family, and especially during his final months. Your enduring friendship has been a bedrock of support on this long journey. The family also thanks the compassionate caregivers from both the Blake and the Pines, Dr. Kathleen Woschkolup, and Agape Hospice who took care of Hays and nurtured all of us, during his final days.

Hays had an amazing spirit of determination to carry on in the face of life’s challenges. With his beloved family, good friends, and great sense of humor, he set an example for us all.

Services will be held Saturday, May 13th at 11:00 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family welcomes friends to their home following the service until 3:00 PM.

I am so very sorry and saddened by Hays´ passing. He was always so sweet and always made a point to come by and see me when he was at the office, though I didn´t work for Reynolds during his tenure there. The entire family will be in my prayers for comfort and peace from out Heavenly Father.
