Edward Harry Riffert of Maris Grove in Glen Mills passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 93.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Cassidy Riffert and his sister, Margaret Paton. He is survived by his son Edward J. (Linda) and his daughter Betsy, grandchildren Danielle (Kris) Kellogg, Brittany (Meg) Rothlauf and Edward A., and great grandchildren Jackson and Lily Kellogg.
Born in Collingdale, PA, Ed enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation from Collingdale High School and retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2.
Ed was a carpenter at the Gulf Oil Refinery in South Philadelphia and retired from Chevron Corporation as a warehouseman. After retirement he worked at Linvilla Orchards in Media where he drove a tractor.
Ed was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League Tun Tavern Detachment 288 in Upland, PA where he served as its Chaplain. He was an active volunteer with the USO at the Philadelphia International Airport, a faithful parishioner at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Ridley Park, PA, and was also a member of the William Rush Woodcarvers Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, January 14th, 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Avenue, Brookhaven, PA and Wednesday, January 15th 9:00-10:00 A.M. at Christ Church, 104 Nevin Street, Ridley Park, PA, followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M.
Interment: Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, PA.
In lieu of flowers, Ed's family requests memorial donations be sent to the Marine Corps League 3602 6th St Upland PA 19015 or to the USO by making checks payable to USO, In memory of Edward Riffert on the memo line, and mailed to: USO Department WS PO Box 96860 Washington DC 20077-7677 or by clicking this link USO Donation
