Edward Peter Ruchala II, 64, passed away on August 2, 2024, in Farmington Hills, MI. Born on November 2, 1959, in Detroit, MI, Ed was a cherished member of his community and a beacon of support and love to his family and friends. Edward graduated from Livonia Stevenson High school in 1977, and his adventurous spirit sent him to live and work on a boat in Key West Florida before coming back to Michigan to begin a 40 year career in the iron works trade.
Ed was renowned for his vibrant presence, often described as the life of the party. He balanced a tough exterior with a deeply kind and loving heart, always ready to lend a hand or an ear. His reliability extended beyond mere friendship, making him the dependable neighbor everyone could count on. His family, especially, knew him as an unwavering presence, ready to assist with anything from car troubles to critical support during health challenges. Edward possessed a remarkable aptitude for mechanics. He would frequently boast that there was no engine he couldn't take apart and repair.
His love for the outdoors was evident through his passion for hunting, fishing, and camping, activities that brought him closer to nature and provided cherished memories with family and friends.
Ed leaves behind a loving family: his sons, Graham Thomas Ruchala and Tyler Louis Ruchala; his daughter in law, Kristen Hope Ruchala; his grandchildren, Rosemary Jean, Grace Hope, William Edward, Brooke Anne, and Henry Joseph Ruchala; and his sister, Diane (Ian) Karr. He is also remembered by his nieces, Emily and Elizabeth Karr, and his nephew, Nicholas (Christianna) Karr, and great nieces Caroline and Melody; Laura Ahmad, mother of Tyler; and by Susan Opperman, who remained a close companion in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Peter Ruchala I and Rosemary (née Frankiewicz) Ruchala, and his brother-in-law, Ian Karr.
The Ruchala family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 2 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service will follow on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 11 am until 4 pm, with the service commencing at 4 pm.
Edward's legacy of kindness, devotion, and spirited personality will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
