Edward Earl Rusk, age 74, of Sugarcreek, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital at Canton following a period of declining health.
Born in Dennison, Ohio on January 23, 1950, Ed was a son of the late Charles and Dorothy Duncil Rusk.
He was a 1968 graduate of Strasburg High School and entered into the United States Army where he proudly served his country as a Tank Mechanic in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Professionally Ed worked in sales and insurance for many years. He served as a middle school and high school basketball coach for more than 30 years at Strasburg, Indian Valley, and Buckeye Trail. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following the Cleveland Browns, watching local stock car races, and spending time fishing. Above all, Ed enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Eric (Amanda) Rusk of Virginia, Jason (Lisa) Rusk of Sugarcreek, and Keith (Amanda) Rusk of Canton; his grandchildren, Madison, Grace, Micah, Jackson, Wyatt, Solomon, Kylee, Kaden, Shayln and Brooklyn; a brother, Charles “Butch” (Linda) Rusk; a sister-in-law, Sue Rusk; and his nieces and nephew.
In addition to his mother and father, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Dave Rusk.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes there will be no public services. Arrangements are being cared for by the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
