Today we celebrate the life of Edward J. Sare. "Eddie Boy", as he was called by his parents; was born in Trenton, NJ March 31, 1944. He passed away on June 3, 2024, just after celebrating his 80th birthday surrounded by his family. Ed was a remarkable father, dedicated husband, and animal enthusiast; he was also a brilliant scientist whose passion for chemistry never waned until his final days. Ed earned his BS in Chemistry at Providence College and then obtained his Doctorate in Chemistry at Purdue University. It was at Purdue that he met the love of his life, Joan, with whom he shared 56 beautiful years of marriage and 2 daughters, Katherine Elaine and Karen Marie.
Throughout his illustrious career, Ed's contributions were invaluable. From his early research at PPG in Ohio to his tenure with Dry Branch Kaolin in NJ, and culminating in his impactful work at Imerys in Macon, GA, Ed's dedication to innovation and excellence left an indelible mark on countless industries including transition lenses and shatterproof glass used in airplanes and automobiles today.
Ed is survived by his wife, Joan, daughters Katherine (Dave) Michelson and Karen (Mike) Sare, grandchildren, Ally & Owen Michelson, SK & Austen Whittemore, sister Ronnie Scott, and nephew David (Jill, Linelle and Rudy) Scott.
