Edward "Ed" Schadler Jr., 79, of Stevensville passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
A private military graveside service will be in Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale with Pastor Jesse Knox officiating. Memorials can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stevensville and Corewell Hospice. Those wishing to share a memory of Ed online may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com.
Ed was born on July 9, 1945, in Benton Harbor to Edward Sr. and Wilma Schadler. He was a 1963 graduate of Lakeshore High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1965-71, when he was honorably discharged.
On Oct. 29, 1966, Ed married the former Janith Corwin at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stevensville. Ed and Jan shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Ed was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stevensville and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph.
Ed was a member of the Fruit Belt Officials Association as well as a referee for many high school basketball games. He was a route driver for many years in the vending machine business and after retirement he worked part time for Roger's Foodland for 10 years.
For many years, Ed enjoyed turkey and deer hunting with his cousin Roger Seely and other family members. He also took great pride in caring for his own lawn and operated a lawn mowing service for several longtime clients over the span of 30 years.
Ed is survived by his wife, Jan Schadler; daughter, Tammy (Tim) Pallett; son, Scott (Michelle) Schadler; grandchildren: Cassie (fiancé Justin Reed) Pallett, Analiese (fiancé Ryan Ostern) Schadler and Jared Schadler; great-grandson, Graham Ostern and a great-grandson and great-granddaughter due this fall; loving sisters: Barbara (Gary) Horton and Leona Klupp; godchild, Joann Klupp; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Jim and Judy Priebe; special Uncle Ben Seely and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Joe Klupp and in-laws: Max and Genny Corwin.
