Edward William Schmidt, 100, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 100. Born on December 10, 1925, in Kenton County, Kentucky, to the late William and Grace Schmidt, Edward led a life filled with devotion, service, and love.

A proud veteran, Edward served in the United States Navy as a Water Tender 3rd Class, contributing to the country's efforts during World War II. After his service, he returned home and began building a life filled with purpose and joy. Edward was known for his deep sense of organization and his unwavering faith as a devoted Christian. His commitment to his faith was reflected in his actions and the way he loved and cared for others.

Edward was married to the love of his life, Iverna Schmidt, who preceded him in death. Together, they shared a love for travel, often embarking on adventures and making memories that would last a lifetime. He was a devoted father to his children, always there with support, guidance, and a listening ear. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Edward had a soft spot for his beloved dog, Mandy, and he never met a snack or sweet treat he didn't enjoy. His infectious personality and warm heart made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.

Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Iverna Schmidt; his great-granddaughter, Lexi Schmidt; his parents, William and Grace Schmidt; and his siblings, Jerry Schmidt, and Betty Liggett.

He is survived by his children, Douglas Schmidt (Becky) of Independence, KY; David Schmidt (Darlene) of Dry Ridge, KY; Donna Grubbs (Jim) of Walton, KY; and Diane Sper (Mike) of Erlanger, KY. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, James Lipscomb (Jean) of Bondurant, IA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Edward will be remembered for his strong faith, his love of family, and his kind and generous spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished forever.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Florence Baptist Temple Church Building Fund in Edward's memory.
