Edward "Arnie" Arnold Smith, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 19, 1950, in Indianapolis, he was known for his warmth and his exceptional kindness, forever making those around him feel welcomed and cherished.
For over 20 years, Arnie dedicated his career as a machinist at Rolls Royce, where he showcased his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His colleagues admired his reliability and skill, but it was his gentle personality that left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
Arnie’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He embraced every moment spent with his loved ones, whether it was sharing stories of his life, playing golf, or enjoying leisurely afternoons on his John Deere lawn mower. In addition to his passion for golf, Arnie found excitement in visiting the casino, where his laughter filled the air, creating joyous memories for his family.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife of 57 years, Deloris "Sue" Smith. Arnie was a proud father to his sons, John Smith (Chrissy) and Jamie Smith (Shawn). His spirit will continue through his grandchildren: Taylor Smith (Cody), Hayley Smith (Mitch), Tanner Smith, Kayla Smith, Izzy Smith, and Audrey Smith, all of whom will carry fond memories of their grandfather’s kind-hearted nature and infectious smile.
Arnie is also survived by his brother, Donald Smith, who shared countless moments of joy and brotherhood with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Sofie Smith, and by his siblings, Charles Smith and Sofie Smith.
