Edward “Ed” J. Sterner, age 93 of Ottertail, MN passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Perham Living.
Edward was born November 13, 1930 in Winsted, MN to Edward and Anna (Fiecke) Sterner. He attended school in Winsted and joined the U.S. Army in January of 1952.
On November 17, 1956, Ed was united in marriage to Patricia Hennings. The couple spent most of their working lives in the St. Paul, MN area. Ed spent many years working as a meat cutter, before retiring to Ottertail in 1991.
The couple enjoyed going on Canadian fishing trips and other travels, including the Seattle World’s Fair of 1962.
Surviving Edward is his wife of 67 years, Patricia Sterner; children, Catherine (Paul) Tweet and Edward R. (Carmen) Sterner; grandchildren, Jennifer Tweet, John Tweet, Joseph Tweet, and Christopher Sterner; great grandchildren, Rosemary Shafer, Zachary Shafer, Christopher Tweet, Owen Tweet, Ethan Tweet, Rebecca Tweet, and Gianna Tweet; brothers, Florian Sterner and Eugene Sterner; sister, Annette Grzeskowiak; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; Edward and Anna Sterner; sisters, Regina, Agatha, Lucille, Marian, Mary, Rita, and Margaret; brothers, Andrew, Cletus, and Clement.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 20, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, rural Perham. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors.
