Edward Taylor Obituary

Visit the Brownsville-Bells Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Edward Taylor, born on April 23, 1936, in Brownsville, TN, departed this world peacefully on November 15, 2025, in his beloved hometown. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Edward's life was a tapestry of kindness, craftsmanship, and unwavering dedication.

Edward’s professional journey led him to be a truck driver for Air Borne Air Freight, where he demonstrated a steadfast commitment to his work. However, it was in his personal pursuits that Edward truly came alive. A master woodworker, he earned a cherished reputation for creating exquisite walking sticks, along with an array of other wooden marvels, including porch swings, tables, and Adirondack chairs. His hands, gifted with ingenuity and art, not only shaped wood but also forged lasting memories for those fortunate enough to know him.

As a graduate of Haywood County High School, Edward not only excelled in academics but also left his mark on the football field until an injury halted his athletic endeavors. Nonetheless, his gentle spirit shone brightly, reflecting a quiet demeanor wrapped in kindness. Edward was a homebody, content to tend to his yard and meticulously mow his lawn. His affinity for automobiles extended to working on cars, trucks, and tractors, hobbies that encapsulated his meticulous nature and creative prowess.

Edward's legacy will endure through his beloved family. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, June Frances Weiss Taylor, whom he married on Halloween, as well as his son, Thomas Taylor (Cheri), and daughter, Jacqueline Tente (Jimmy). A cherished brother, he leaves his surviving sibling, J.C. Taylor, Jr. (Robbie Sue), alongside five sisters: Joann Taylor White Moore, Peggy Jean Taylor Herron, Betty Jane Oswald, Brenda Lou Austin (Lee), and Marilyn Ray. Edward's spirit will also be carried on by his four grandchildren, Tristan Pendergrass, Margaret Joy Taylor, Gabriel Taylor, and Veronica Taylor, who were a source of immense pride and joy in his life. He will be fondly remembered Virginia Haayer, Mrs. June's best friend and by his coffee gang at Burger King, a testament to the connections he fostered within his community.

Sadly, he is preceded in death by his father, J.C. Taylor; mother, Maggie Bee Johnson Taylor; and brother, Jerry Allen Taylor. Their memories, intertwined with Edward's, highlight the rich tapestry of family bonds that shaped his life.

Visitation will be held on November 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, concluding with burial at Brownsville Memorial Gardens at 12:00 PM.

In celebrating Edward Taylor, we pay homage to a man whose craftsmanship and gentle heart enriched the lives of many. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
