Obituary published on Legacy.com by Claire Brothers Funeral Home - Houston on Jan. 28, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward Tunson jr. (The Texan or Tex) on January 14, 2026 , at the age of 83. Edward 's life was marked by compassion for others ,strength, and a deep devotion to family as he told old stories about his rearing in the country. He was a good Historian. He remembered everything so clearly.
Edward was born in New Orleans , Louisiana of the late Ellen and Edward Tunson Sr. and raised in Napoleonville, Louisiana up until the age of 13 with his grandparents , Sarah and Waitman Johnson. After moving back to Milwaukee Wisconsin with his parents , he attended Lincoln Highschool. . He spent 23 dedicated years working for Schilz Brewery company where he was known for his work ethic, kindness, and commitment to providing for his family. He accepted Christ into life.He was the devoted friend to Audrey Carver.
Edward was the proud parent of Lonnie, Daren, of Milwaukee and Marlena, Tonya Arceneaux(Gregory), Terez Tyson (Ryan) of Houston Texas. He was also a cherished grandfather to eight wonderful grandchildren: Whitlley, Chasity, Anastasia ,Kennedy, Christopher ,Chase, Taylor and Kameron, which he loved and talked about regularly
Edward had a palate for simple and comforting food, he held a deep affection for traveling and giving money and spending time watching those old cowboy television shows as well as hanging out at family gatherings .Edward's preference for hunting and fishing and love of animals was indicative of his rich, character - of country rearing , caring attitude, perhaps a tad crazy, and alway happy with life. He would call himself "The Lonesome Dove".He had an eye for beautiful decor and antiques .
He leaves us with a legacy to strive to do better than was and to go to school and educate yourself. He was a great dresser and neat and knew how to coordinate his clothes for any occasion.
Edward's presence will be sorely missed, especially his surprising visits and asking about the home cook food as he always asked a persons their age ,his warm hugs, and those caring check-up calls. We let go of a good brother , father , a grandfather and a kind soul. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the love, joy, and kindness and giving spirit that were the essence of Edwards being.
He is survived by 2 sisters Julie Harris(Terry) Dallas Texas and Wanda Williams(Tyrone)New Orleans and host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
We would like to thank The Mother of Refuge assistant living facility staff , Ms Shaniya , Ms Cindy and Ms Kim, especially Miss Alevia Williams (Owner)for her great coordination of care and her wonderful Louisiana cooking.
