Edward Uncapher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home and Crematory - Ashland on Mar. 6, 2026.
Edward Allen Uncapher, 64, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2026, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida. His sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Ed was born on January 18, 1962, in Ashland, Ohio, to Allen and Nancy Uncapher, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Ashland and graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1980. He attended The Ohio State University before relocating to Bradenton, Florida, where he began his career at Tropicana.

Through hard work and determination, Ed rose to the position of Lead Production Scheduler at Tropicana, overseeing the production of thousands of cases of orange juice each day. While working full time, he also operated a small lawn service, often helping neighbors and customers simply because they needed it.

Ed later married Jan Corless, and they moved to North Fort Myers, where he founded Accent Landscaping and Lawn Service. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, Ed maintained the landscaping and grounds for several condominium communities and formed many lasting friendships with the residents he served. Even after their marriage ended, Ed remained close to Jan and compassionately cared for her during the final chapter of her life.

Mechanically gifted and resourceful, Ed could fix nearly anything-from engines to irrigation systems. After Hurricane Ian struck Fort Myers in 2022, he completed much of the restoration work on his own home, a testament to his determination and self-reliance.

Outside of work, Ed enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time with friends, hosting music gatherings, boating, fishing, and traveling to Costa Rica. A passionate sports fan, he was a devoted supporter of Ohio State Buckeyes football and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ed will be remembered for his quick wit, generous spirit, and willingness to help others-especially elderly neighbors who often relied on him for rides to appointments or assistance with everyday tasks.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois (Craig) Mikita and Susan (Michael) Fast-Clark; his niece Cathy Vermilya; and his nephews Michael (Sarah) Mikita, Matthew Mikita, Nicholas (Brittany) Fast, Brandon (Stephanie) Fast, and Cody Fast, along with seven great-nieces and seven great-nephews.

Ed's bright smile, trademark mustache, and infectious laugh will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin McClain presiding. A meal and time of fellowship will follow in the Legacy Room at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery where Ed will be laid to rest beside his grandparents, George and Lois Uncapher. Family and friends may visit a half hour prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ed's memory to the American Heart Association.

Online condolences may be shared on the funeral home's website at denbowfh.com.
