Michael R. Ailer

Michael R. Ailer, 69, of Nova, died on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. He was born on February 18, 1956, in Ashland, the son of the late Alpha and Ruthie (Kiser) Ailer.

Michael was a 1974 graduate of Hillsdale High School. He proudly served in the US Navy during Vietnam. Following his time in the Navy, he worked as a laborer with a printing company for many years and in the road construction field. On February 17, 1979, Michael married Laura Robertson, and they shared 46 wonderful years together. Mike loved drinking Pepsi and having Burger King. He was a handy man and liked working on cars and mowing his yard.

Michael is survived by his wife Laura Ailer; children, Eric (Kim Howard) Ailer of Florida and Amanda Ailer of New London; grandchildren, Ronnie, Zachary, Jaden, Chris, Ace and Declan; sister, Susan Hilbert of Wooster. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Sheaffer and brother, Jacob Ailer.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London. At the conclusion of the visitation, Military honors will take place at the funeral home at 3:00 P.M.
