Dennis McKee Cook (Cookie), 69, of Ashland died Tuesday, October 7, 2025. He was born October
21, 1955 in Ashland, the son of Sturley and Dorcus (Hiner) Cook. He was a 1974 graduate of Hillsdale
High School and married Diane Long on March 4, 1978. He was previously employed at Harpster
Stockyards, Mansfield Plumbing Products, and Centerra. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran
Church in Ashland.
He is survived by his sister, Cathy (Randy) King and nieces, Brooke (Matt) Cramer and Paige (Louis)
Lamosek; sister, Cindey Jones and niece, Holly Eggerton; nephew, Kyle (Ashley) Cook; brother-in-law,
Dan (Amy) Long; nephews, Zach (Lindsay) Long, Taylor Long, Evan (Kristi) Long and Will Long; and
father-in-law, Ken Long.
Dennis was loved and known as "Den-Den" by his many great and great-great nieces and nephews:
Carter, Gavin, Wade, Riggs, Paisley, Maya, Lawson, Holden, April, Blakely, Rain, Emberlee, Brier
Rose, Alana, Bronson, Sage, Hattie, Jay, Colin, Natalie, Rory, Braxton and Maisie.
Dennis enjoyed the many conversations and time spent with all of his friends. While there are too many
to mention, his family is grateful for all of those friendships.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Diane, on May 26, 2019; his parents Sturley (2004) and
Dorcus (2007); brother Scott (2024); nephew Jake King (2013); and nephew Grant Eggerton (1997).
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 26, from 3-6 pm at the Wellness and Community
Center at Brethren Care Village, 2130 Center Street, Ashland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hayesville-Vermillion Fire Department, 8 High Street,
Hayesville, OH 44838.
Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
