Rollin Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fickes Funeral Home on Feb. 13, 2026.
Rollin "Rolly" McDonald Cox II, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home in Ashland, Ohio.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Rolly was raised in West Salem and graduated from Black River High School. He was the son of Helen and Rollin Cox and the loving brother of Jane Ann Cox, who preceded him in death. From an early age, Rolly carried himself with a warm and jovial spirit. He was always ready with a quiet joke, a knowing smile, or a perfectly timed remark that brought laughter and comfort to those around him.

For 51 years, Rolly shared a devoted and enduring marriage with his beloved wife, Mary. Together they built a life rooted in faithfulness, hard work, and deep love. They raised two sons, Ryan and Clell, whom he guided with steady strength and unwavering support. Rolly's life was defined by his commitment to caring for his family. He took great pride in providing, protecting, and standing beside those he loved. His devotion to his children and grandchildren remains one of his greatest and most treasured legacies.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Meyer) Cox; his sons, Ryan and Clell, and daughter-in-law Nikki; and his cherished grandchildren: Gabriel "Gabe" Thomas Cox, Clell John "CJ" Cox, Camryn Lily Cox, and Collins Sophia Cox. Each of them brought him immense pride and joy, and nothing meant more to him than being "Dad" and "Grandpa."

A man of many passions, Rolly found particular joy in restoring his beloved John Deere tractors, bringing them back to life piece by piece with patience and care. The family farm was not just land to him - it was heritage, stewardship, and a reflection of his steady character.

Professionally, Rolly was widely respected for his contributions to the concrete industry. For more than three decades, he was a familiar and beloved presence at the World of Concrete, where colleagues from across the country came to know not only his expertise but his humor and authenticity. With characteristic wit, he would often say he was only considered an expert because he had outlived everyone else in the field - a line delivered with the same dry humor that defined him.

Rolly's life was marked by loyalty, resilience, and quiet strength. He will be remembered for his steady hands, his quick smile, and the way he made others feel at ease. His presence was a gift to all who knew him.

He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered with love.

Services are to be held on Tuesday February 17th at the Ashland Dickey church of the brethren located at 1509 twp rd. 655, Ashland Oh 44805. Calling hours are at 4pm followed by a service at 5pm.
