Douglas William Cook

Cincinnati

Douglas "Doug" William Cook, age 60, passed away peacefully the morning of February 22, 2026. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, January 10, 1966, son of the late Donald F. and Dorothy (née: Thiemann) Cook. Doug graduated from Goshen High School "Class of 1984". He went on to pursue his degree in Computer Science from Cincinnati State, becoming a dedicated, passionate employee of the Internal Revenue Service for more than thirty years.

Doug was dedicated to supporting and uplifting others facing health and wellness challenges through frequent philanthropy. Organizations supported by Doug's kindness include The Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation, the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, and the International Association of Hidradenitis Suppurativa Network. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and became affectionately known as "Mr. Fix-It", often helping his siblings, nieces, and nephews with household projects and all things technology. He frequently attended sporting and extracurricular events for his nieces and nephews and was a fan of medical and drama television. Doug was also an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball. With his joy and love for his nieces and nephews, one of his favorite roles was "uncle". Doug deeply valued education and career pursuit, even attending the graduations of his nieces and nephews in Lawrenceburg, IN, Athens, OH, Milwaukee, WI, and Manchester, IN.

Surviving are his three devoted sisters, Donna (John) Getzendanner of Lawrenceburg, Denise (John) Daggett of Milford, and Darlene (Tim) McEwan of Batavia; Six beloved nieces and nephews, John Scott (Amanda) Getzendanner, Jennifer Getzendanner, Taylor (Aaron) Wendel, Jake Daggett, Daniel McEwan, Nicholas McEwan; Six great nieces and great nephews, Russell, Austin, Kaylynn, Ivy, Kyle, Rose, other relatives and dear friends.

Family and friends will be received at John H. Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center St, Milford, OH 45150, March 2, 2026, 10:00 am until 11:30 am, followed by a brief memorial service. A Celebration of Life will follow, location to be determined, beginning at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations to The Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation, the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, or the International Association of Hidradenitis Suppurativa Network in Doug's name have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and employees of Anderson Mercy and Clermont Mercy, Siena Gardens, and to the Hospice of Cincinnati for their loving and compassionate care.
