Edward Joseph Urankar

Edward J. Urankar, of Furlong, PA, passed away at home on Sunday, July 13, 2025, surrounded by family. Ed was 60 years old. Ed was a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio prior to moving to Furlong in 2010.

Ed received a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and a PhD in Polymer Chemistry from Cornell University. Ed made many scientific contributions at Eastman Kodak, P&G, GE, and Veolia. His achievements spanned 33 years.

Ed grew up in Euclid, Ohio and was an avid Cleveland sports team enthusiast. He was also a passionate Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was known for his kindness, humility, and infectious smile. Ed enjoyed cooking for his family, particularly homemade pasta and pesto. Ed also enjoyed his vegetable garden, biking, woodworking, and Skyline Chili. When the older kids went to college, Ed had a special tradition of having Sushi dates with Noah.

Ed was the beloved fiancée of Cheryl Young. He was preceded in death by his wife of 19 years, Julie Urankar. Ed was a devoted father to his three children, Chloe (21), Alex (19), and Noah (13), and they will be cared for by Ed's Brother-in-Law, Jeff White and his wife Pamela. Ed was also preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Carmela Urankar, and his sister, Lisa Urankar. Karly, the family's King Charles Cavalier, will also miss Ed greatly.

The family will receive their friends at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 1:00-2:30 pm, with a service to begin at 2:30 pm.

Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
