Esther May Urankar

1927-2026

Esther entered eternal peace in the early morning hours of January 24th, at the age of 98.

She was born in Portland Maine on October 8th, 1927. Adopted as an infant by Kennth and Francis Gibbs, she grew up in Milford New Hampshire. Seeking to higher her education, she traveled to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to earn her degree at West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. While there, she met and married Peter Paul Urankar and eventually gave birth to 8 children.

Retirement found Esther in sunny Naples Florida where she resided for 30 years until life brought her to her final home here, in Plymouth Wisconsin for the past 10 years.

A great story teller, Esther enjoyed sledding, ice skating, music, piano playing and visiting the library as a child, where her life long love of reading began. Of course she loved to read, she loved good cheeses, vegetables, chinese food, plum wine and she especially loved her butter. As she would say,"everything is betta with butta!" Esther was loving, intelligent, caring, generous, cordial and fiesty- she would keep you on your toes.

Esther is survived by her son, John Urankar, daughters Ruth Urankar, Theresa (Craig) Owens and Ann (Tim) Torrison. Grandchildren Adam (Whitney Dube) Urankar, Jason Trolinger, Elizabeth Urankar Ransom, Miranda Ransom, Casey (Eric) Myers, Cally Owens, Michael Owens, Maria Owens, Amanda Owens and Isaiah Torrison. Great granchildren Lucas, Logan, Bennett, Kailer, Isabella, Akil and Adalina.

Preceded in death by sons, Peter Urankar, Kenneth Urankar, daughters Mary (Suzie) Urankar, Hope Ransom, grandaughters Clara Owens and Dawn Urankar.

Best friend of 60 years, Pat Duane and her husband Jim were instrumental in Esther's life and truly were her guardian angels. A note of thanks goes to Rocky Knoll (with a special shout out to the staff on 2 north), whom took special care of Esther in the last 4 years, and also to the compassion shown by the Sharon S Richardson Hospice staff.

This about sums it up for me, Mom;

The ones we love shine for us- in the stars,

in the glow of the moon,

in the sun each time it rises.

The ones we love shine in us, too. In the good things we do for the world and each other.

In memories, which are never lost. In our hearts, forever.
