Edward O. Warren, 81, passed away peacefully after a life defined by service, curiosity, and enduring devotion. He was born and raised in southeastern Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma on an NROTC scholarship earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1965. After being commissioned in the US Navy, Edward was selected for their nuclear power program where he dedicated his professional life to the Submarine Service. The highlight of his career was serving as the commanding officer of the USS Henry Clay, SSBN 625 Gold. His leadership was marked by integrity, resilience, and quiet strength, remembered with respect by those who served alongside him. After his retirement, he attended the University of Nebraska and earned a master's degree in mathematics.
Edward retired in Nebraska, returning to the rhythms of rural life that had shaped his early years. The simplicity of the land, the calm of open skies, and the quiet satisfaction of honest work grounded him in ways that felt familiar and restorative. He continued to pursue the things he loved-sailing with friends, crafting intricate knots from rope with skill and patience, and exploring the evolving world of computers and information technology. He eventually made Virginia his home to be close to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edward shared sixty remarkable years with his devoted wife, Judith Warren. Together they built a life rooted in love and commitment, raising two daughters, Kelly and Lindy. His legacy continues through five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each a reflection of his gentle wisdom and steady guidance.
He is survived by his wife Judith, his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his sister, Jane Bias, who resides in Oklahoma. Edward's presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him. Edward's legacy lives on in the stories told, the lives touched, and the quiet strength he brought to those around him.
