Edward Wirt, a devoted husband, father, and community leader, passed away on October 23, 2025, in Cordova, Tennessee. He was born on October 16, 1957, in Somerville, Tennessee, to his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Asbury Lottie Mae Hunter-Wirt.
A proud graduate of Fayette Ware High School in Somerville, Tennessee, Class of 1976, Edward was known for his passion for sports, particularly basketball and football. Following his high school education, he pursued a career in law enforcement by training with the Fayette County Police Academy, reflecting his dedication to serving his community.
Edward was not only a respected figure in law enforcement but also a successful businessman. As the proprietor of Four W's Cleaning Services, he played a significant role in the local economy, employing over three hundred individuals during his tenure. His commitment to his work and his employees showcased his leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
A member of Temple of Deliverance C.O.G in Christ, Edward was deeply embedded in his community, embodying the values of service and compassion throughout his life.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Eunice "Nita" Johnson-Wirt, with whom he shared forty-one years of marriage. Edward is also survived by their children: Edward Leon (Naomi) Wirt, Jr., Lamont Hawkins, Joshua Wirt, Jonathan Wirt, Jeremy (Artisha) Wirt, and Chelita Burnett. His legacy continues through his sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who carry forward the love and lessons he imparted throughout his life.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, Oct. 31st at Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.,15000 Highway 194, Oakland, TN 38060. Rev. Mitchell Pastor.
