Norma Wirt, age 92, passed away peacefully on October, 13, 2025. Born in Charlotte County, VA on April 25, 1933, she was one of six children of the late St. Clair Smith, Sr. and Pearl Jeter Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Wirt and brothers Alfred, St. Clair, Hershel and Bernard.

Norma worked as an Administrative Assistant in Richmond and Va. Beach for more than 40 years. She retired "back home" to Red Oak, VA in 1991 to be nearer to family. She was a beloved family member who had a talent for making people feel special, needed and cared for. She had a warm and kind nature that touched the lives of everyone she met. Norma's life was filled with simple pleasures that brought her joy. She was active in her church, First Baptist of Chase City, and in the Chase City Women's Club for many years. She had a green thumb and loved to garden, spending hours tending to her flowers and vegetables. One of her favorite pastimes was feeding the birds and watching them flutter around her yard. These hobbies brought her peace and happiness throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughters Karen (Michael) Foecking of Maryland and Sandra (Roger) Campbell of New Mexico ; and sons Gary (Diana) Wirt of Missouri and Sean (Amy) Wirt of North Carolina; sister Shirley Gilbert; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Norma will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and her unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025 at First Baptist Church, 206 East Second St, Chase City, with interment following at Public Fork Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Wood Funeral Service is serving the family. Condolences may be expressed at www.woodfuneralservice.com
