Edward "Ed" Zaker

ZAKER, Edward John – of Millington, age 66, went peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family and to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Monday, July 24, 2023, at SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church – 230 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Burial in Flint Memorial Park to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 12PM until 8PM and Monday at the church from 10AM until the time of Mass. A Rosary will be prayed 7PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend an invitation to a Celebration of Life that will be held 1PM Monday afternoon, at the Clio Eagles, in honor of Edward.
Edward was born September 14, 1956, in Flint, to the late Zigmund and Mary (Byrnes) Zaker. He attended Flint Southwestern High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army until receiving an honorable discharge in 1976. Ed was a food service manager for Servomation/Service America from 1980 until 1990, a delivery manager for Art Van Furniture from 1990 until 2005, and he was a self-employed internet salesman from 2005 until his retirement in 2020. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for many years, the Aerie 4208 in Hudson, Florida, and the Clio Eagles 3609. On October 21, 1978, Edward married the love of his life, Ruth Wiltfong, and together they shared 44 years of marriage. Over the years, Ed and Ruth hosted five foreign exchange students. Each in their own way brought much joy to their lives.
Ed was known as a rather social man. He had a welcoming personality and the most contagious smile that was sure to cheer up a dull day. Those who knew him knew that he was a good listener and was always prepared to have a conversation, especially when a nice, cold beer was involved. Edward enjoyed going fishing, traveling with his family, and listening to music - preferably 1950's and 1960's Rock n' Roll or Doo-Wop. Ed was a glowing light in this world who made a significant impact on many lives. He was a wonderful husband, father, and dear friend who will truly be missed.
Edward is forever loved by his wife, Ruth Zaker; Son, Edward "Eddie" (Mitchell Abbey) Zaker; Sister, Mary Margaret Stone; Brothers-in-law: Dennis (Linda) Wiltfong, Duane Wiltfong, Dave (Goldeen) Wiltfong; Beloved furry companion, Charlie; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and great friends.
