Edward Michael Zimmer

Edward Michael Zimmer, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at his home in Newark, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph Max and Anna Margaret Zimmer.

Raised in Carney, Maryland and graduating from Calvert Hall College High School, Ed had a great love of Hunting, Trap Shooting and Fishing which he shared with his family and friends.

Ed spent 4 years in the United States Navy where he proudly served on the USS Requin and the USS Cubera. When he left the Navy he returned to Baltimore to work in the family business, Harford Refrigeration Company, Inc. now in Rosedale, Maryland where he continued as President until his passing.

Ed always dreamed of have a hunting property on the Eastern Shore. This dream came true on July 23, 2001 when we established D.A.M. Z's Haven in Newark, Maryland. This was his favorite place to share the things he loved with his family and friends.

Ed was a very loving and generous soul, always ready and willing to treat anyone to a meal or a drink. He touched so many lives and will be deeply miss by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Zimmer. Additionally, he is survived by his sons, E. Michael Zimmer (Maddie), Andrew Thomas Zimmer, David Christopher Zimmer, Patrick Michael Coughlin (Marissa), and James Christopher Coughlin (Christiana). Also surviving are his siblings, Robert Zimmer, Janie Zimmer, and Denise Davis (Mark). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Hailey Zimmer, Catie Zimmer, AJ Zimmer, Flynn Zimmer, Wylie Zimmer-Gamboa, Henrie Hartline, and Hazel Hartline.

He is also survived by his chosen family including but not limited to Shannon Simpson, Chris Barrs, Derrick Simpson, Colbey Sirman, Leah Simpson, Alyssa Simpson, Dan Hartline, Cohen Hartline and Samanthia Briers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph M Zimmer Jr. and William Zimmer.

Cremation followed his death. A celebration of life will be held on October 4, 2025 from 1 to 4PM at The Sterling Tavern,119 N. Main Street Berlin, MD. Please feel free to stop by and share a memory.
