Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel - HancockEdwin Edson Allen Sr., 89, of Starlight, PA, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA, after an illness. He was born on April 27, 1936 in Hancock, N.Y. the son of Edson E. and Clarabelle (Pobgee) Allen.
Edwin married Edna Gately on October 6, 1961.
Edwin was a US Army Veteran serving from 1958-1960. He drove a bulk milk tanker for Welch Farms and Emery Doyle for several years. He then worked at Becton Dickinson in Hancock NY for 10 years. He was very skillful with auto & tractor mechanics, carpentry work, reloading, and gardening. Edwin loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed going to a good auction. He also enjoyed going to the local turkey/trap shoots. He was a quieter man of not many words, but he could share a good story and had a great laugh.
Surviving are his wife, Edna; 2 children, Edwin Jr., and Deborah (James) Lanfair; 2 grandsons, Paul (Brooke) Wilson and Tristan (Cassy) Lanfair; granddaughter, Valerie (Eric) Wilcox; great grandson, Landon Lanfair; 2 great granddaughters, Nevaeh and Natalie Lanfair; 2 sisters, Velma Graham and Audrey Turner; and many nieces and nephews. A close nephew was Bob Allen.
Edwin was predeceased by his granddaughter, Hilary Lanfair; 6 sisters: Ethlyn (Tom) Fry, Anna (Virgil) Smith, Emily (Bill) Hope, Martha (Pete) Overeem, Roberta Pope, and Leila Julia Allen; and 3 brothers: Garfield Allen, Norman (Gail) Allen, and Clair B Allen.
A graveside service will be held in Kingsbury Hill Cemetery, Starlight, PA, on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 1:00pm. with a celebration of life to immediately follow at the Northern Wayne Fire Co.,1633 Crosstown Highway, Lakewood PA 18439
Donations may be made in Edwin’s memory to the Northern Wayne Fire Company, 1633 Crosstown Highway, Lakewood PA 18439 or Buckingham Baptist Church, 185 Starlight Lake Rd, Starlight, P.A. 18461
