Edwin Lee Brandon, age 87, of Ashville, AL passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial will follow at Williams Southside Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will accept friends from 12:30PM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Brandon was of the Baptist faith. Ed served our country proudly in the United States Air Force. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Commerce Business, as well as a graduate of Samford with a Masters of Business Administration. He was the president of the local Shriners – 1985 (Zamora Temple), a lifelong member of the Shriners Lodge, and a member of the UA Alumni Association. He loved working at Docs farm and spent many years there. Ed enjoyed deep sea fishing, watching Alabama football, NASCAR, and boating. He is deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family who meant the world to him.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Katie Brandon; and son, Douglas Brandon.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Brandon; son, Edwin (Patricia) Brandon; daughters, Debra Farrell, Terri Harmon, and Lisa (Alan) Walch; brother, Lewis Brandon; 10 grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Blake Walch, Edwin Brandon, Ryan Brandon, Jacob Brandon, Brandon McBurnett, and Robert Abernathy.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends who called him "Big Daddy".
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff of Gadsden Health and Rehab, Jerry Tinsley and Staff at Oak Landing Assisted Living, and Sherry Brandon.
