Edwin Charles Brown III

Edwin Charles Brown III, 30, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away on January 22, 2026.

Edwin was born in Rapid City on July 30, 1995, Edwin was a loving father, son, brother, grandson and friend. He was known for his vibrant spirit, his infectious laugh, and his love for his family and culture. As a proud Sundancer and spiritual person, Edwin's life was deeply rooted in his heritage, and he carried his beliefs with him in everything he did.

Edwin was a man who embraced life with passion. He loved playing basketball, skateboarding, rapping with his cousins, and spending time with those who were close to him. He was especially fond of barbecues, bonfires, playing guitar, and making music with his family. He was nicknamed by his family as "Cheebahawk" "Eddie Spaghetti" and "Yamni."

Edwin is survived by his three beloved children, Edwin Brown, Annaleigh Brown, and Asher Brown. He is also survived by his father, Edwin Brown Jr.; his siblings, Paris Brown, Angelina (Brown) Cobos, Emily Kornely, Adam Kornely, Robert Kornely, Damon Keil, Tiana Rountree, Caden Brown, and Tristan Brown; as well as many cherished family members and friends.

Edwin was preceded in death by his mother, Wicanpi Win Thomas; his grandfather, Edwin Charles Brown Sr.; and his cousin, Misti Le, whose love and guidance were a foundation for the man he became.

Edwin will forever be remembered for his love of life, his laughter, and the way he carried his family and culture with pride. He was a dedicated father and a kind soul whose memory will live on in the hearts of his children, family, and all who were fortunate to know him.

Pallbearers will be Edwin Brown, Jr., Dakota Standing, Owen Vanderwalker, Damon Kiel, Adam Kornely, Robert Kornely, Tristen Brown, Caden Brown, Bradley Drappeau, and Elliott Bad Wound.

Honorary pallbearers will be Derek & Lance Apple, and All Of His Family & Friends Who Loved Him Dearly.

Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Rockyford Community Center near Rockyford, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services: 12:00 PM, Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Rockyford Community Center near Rockyford, SD.

Traditional Lakota Services: To Be Announced

Burial Services: St. Mark's Episcopal Cemetery, Rockyford, SD
