Edwin “Ed” Thomas Kuether, age 90, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System Austin. Ed was born on June 23, 1935, to Edwin Kuether and Bernadean Steinbarger in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Austin High School in 1953. On September 28, 1957, he married Rosemary Yarwood in the living room of the preacher’s house in Ellendale, Minnesota. Together they raised three children and later divorced. Ed’s passion was coins; he started a coin business out of his house and then later opened a storefront, Ed’s Coin Den in Austin, Minnesota. He belonged to the VFW, Eagle’s Club, American Legion, and bowling league. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, golfing, bowling and above all, spend time with his family. Ed had a nickname for everyone!
Survivors include his children, Jody Kuether, Camy (Randy) Dusich, and Darcy (Scott) Oleson; grandchildren, Allison (Aaron) Richey and Chelsea (Thomas) Shawback; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Petersen; and a special cousin, Vanna (Peter) Nielsen. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Kuether and Herbert and Bernadean (Steinbarger) Petersen; brother, Danny Petersen, special cousins Harry and Carol Hansen; and two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Daniel.
Services are currently pending. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
