Edwin J. Fitch, 82, of Palm Bay, FL passed away on June 8, 2024, in Boston, MA. He was born in Tottenham, a suburb of London, England. He moved to Basildon, England at 15 and later met his loving wife of 50 years, the late Joyce (Berry) Fitch, fondly known as Ollie. Ed was a machinist who began his career in England before moving to Massachusetts in 1967 where they raised their family in Lynn, MA and West Peabody, MA. Prior to retiring, Ed was a Manufacturing Manager at Screw-Matic.
Ed was a dart champion and enjoyed karaoke in his later years, often singing songs by The Beatles and Bob Seger. His favorite song to sing was "Almost Home" by Craig Morgan. When Ed was in his final days, his family surrounded him and played that song hoping to send him to his next journey singing one last time.
He is survived by his first Son of a Fitch, Michael and his wife Kim; his second Son of a Fitch, Andrew and his wife Lynda; his beloved daughter, Sharon Bonaventura and her husband Brian. Ed would always say how he had the best family and how lucky he was. He adored his grandchildren Michael, Teren, Dylan, Hayden, Kyle, and Kaitlyn who all loved to call him G-Dog. A few weeks before Ed's passing, his grandson Kyle and his wife Tori became parents to Ed's first great grandchild, Amelia. He came to Massachusetts to meet her, and the family is forever grateful that he was able to see and hold her. Ed has an extended family in England and was also the brother of John Fitch. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Fitch and Ivy (Park) Fitch, as well as his siblings Marilyn Fitch and Stuart Fitch.
As per Ed's wishes, there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the cardiology unit at Brigham & Women's Hospital, where he received exceptional and compassionate care. Donations can be made at https://give.brighamandwomens.org/ways-to-donate/.
