Edwin Gill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eline Funeral Home - Hampstead on Jan. 17, 2026.
Edwin Foster Gill Sr. (81) passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 15, 2026. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland June 22, 1944, to the late Foster and Alma Gill. A man of deep and unwavering Catholic faith, Edwin received his First Holy Communion in May of 1952-one of the most meaningful moments of his life. His faith guided him throughout his years and was evident in the kindness, compassion, and care he extended to everyone around him.

Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Army for seven years, from 1968 to 1975. Following his military service, he dedicated 44 years of his professional life to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as a senior accountant. There, he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to serving others.

Edwin was happily married to the love of his life, Beverly Knights Gill, for 36 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith. They shared a deep love of traveling, cherishing the opportunity to explore new places together. He also had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, fostered by his involvement with the Scouts, and was a devoted fan of old western movies. Edwin was well known for his quick wit, which always brought laughter to those around him. Above all else, he consistently put others before himself and deeply cherished time spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Alma Gill; his siblings Leonard Gill, Catherine Gill, Agnes Day, and Ronald Gill; and his stepson, Brian Harmon.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Knights Gill; his sister-in-law, Bette Jo Gill; his brothers Michael (Mary) Gill, Charles (Anita) Gill, and Robert (Linda) Gill; his children, Ted Gill, William Gill, James Gill, Thomas Gill, and Jeannie Gill; his stepchildren, Dennis (Syble) Harmon and Michael (Tracy) Harmon; his grandchildren Shane Harmon, Matthew Harmon, Brittni (Travis) Trout, Champ Harmon, Benjamin Martin, Emma Martin, and BreAnna Harmon; and his four great-grandchildren.

Edwin will be remembered for his faith, humor, devotion to family, and lifelong service to others. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in all who were blessed to know him.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead, MD 21074. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, MD 21157. A graveside inurnment will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:30 am in Manchester Baptist Cemetery, 2933 Manchester Baptist Church Road, Manchester, MD.
