Michael Patrick Cornell

Michael Patrick "Pat" Cornell, 83, of Hampstead, MD, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at UPMC York Memorial Hospital in York, PA. Born on February 1, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, Pat was the son of the late Edward F. Cornell and Beatrice V. Cornell (née Shipley). He was the beloved husband of Bonnie Murray Cornell. Pat was a graduate of McDonogh School and attended the University of Maryland at College Park. After college, he served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Early in his career, he worked for many years at the Forest Inn, the restaurant owned and operated by his parents. He later spent the majority of his professional life in commercial flooring sales, working with both Carpetland and Bode Floors. A devoted and active member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hampstead, Pat served his church community in several roles, including as president of the church council. He was also a proud member of the Hampstead Lions Club and CASHE. Pat had a lifelong love of sports, particularly golf and softball, and during his school years he served as captain of the swim team at McDonogh School. He also had a deep appreciation for the performing arts. Pat was known for his charisma, warmth, and natural leadership, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole Cornell and William Kavesh of Brooklyn, NY, and his grandson, Quinton Kavesh. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1373 North Main Street, Hampstead. His pastor, Rev.
