John Bowers Obituary

John William Bowers, 68, of Lutherville, MD passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 at his home. Born June 1, 1957 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late William H. and Margaret "Peggy" Bowers. He was the husband of Suzanne Anita Bowers, his wife of two years. John was a graduate of Loch Raven High School. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in North Dakota. He worked in automotive sales and repair as a mechanical manager. He was a member of and very involved in Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed yard work, his dogs, and especially his wife and family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Catharine Bowers of Washington, DC; brother, Wayne Bowers and his wife Sheila of Bel Air, MD; sisters, Maggie Gurbelski and her husband Carl of Delta, PA, Karen Vera and her husband Rod of Whaleyville,, MD; grandson, Wyatt; stepmother, Betty J. Bowers of Ocean Pines, MD; nephews, Spencer, Grant, and Calvin; and nieces, Samantha, Berkleigh, Alex, and Mallory. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a son, Randy Bowers; and stepfather, Melvin Gronau. The family is planning a Celebration of Life for John at a later date in the Spring. Due notice will be given. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Baltimore Alcoholics Anonymous Intergroup, 3655 B Old Court Road, Suite 23, Pikesville, MD 21208 (online at [email protected]) or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058. Arrangements are entrusted to ELINE FUNERAL HOME, Hampstead, MD.
