Edwin John Hare age 85 of Wyoming, passed away March 16, 2026. He was born April 21, 1940 in Sault Ste. Marie the son of Cyril Thomas and Elda Margaret (Rich) Hare.

Ed went to school in Sault Ste. Marie, and was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Wesleyan Church. Through the church he would work regularly with Salvation Army.

He married Jeanne Jo Wheelock on July 15, 1978 in Saranac. In July it would have been 48yrs together. Ed retired from Meijer after 33yrs as a butcher. He also worked as a Realtor, Insurance Agent, and owned and managed rental properties with his wife Jeanne. When he moved to Wyoming, he became a member of Kentwood Community Church. While at KKC, he helped to build and set up sets for different church productions, and went on multiple mission trips to Monterrey, Mexico, the Czech Republic, and worked several weeks helping to rebuild homes damaged by hurricane Katrina. Ed was part of a Hunting & Rifleman's Club, Future Farmers of America, and a chess club where he became an avid player. He taught many of his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids to play chess. Ed also liked to tell the stories of his "thumbs out" hitch hiking adventures across the USA.

Surviving Ed is his wife, Jeanne Hare of Wyoming. Children, Pamela Zerfas of Baldwin, Patty (Gordon) Gilchrist of Cedar Springs, Scott (Francene) Hare of Jamesville, Wisconsin, Bryan (Erin) Hare of Wyoming, Jon Hare of Wyoming and Matthew Hare of Saranac. 25 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Brother, Glen (Judy) Hare of Reed City. Several nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril & Elda Hare, son Jamie, Brothers and Sisters, Shirley, Stanley and Jackie Hare, Lois and George Stickland and his Mother and Father-in-law, Doris & Joseph Wheelock. Also Ex-wife of 16 yrs, Arlene (Haines) Hare.

Funeral Services will be at the Pathways, a Wesleyan Church 4960 Portland Rd. Saranac Mi 48881 on Saturday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Schmidt and Pastor Philip Count officiants. Visitation will be at the Lake Funeral Home 158 Mill St. Saranac, MI 48881 on Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Pathways, a Wesleyan Church or Kentwood Community Church. Online condolences may be made at www.lakefuneralhomes.com
