MacMillan - Edwin Donald MacMillan, Jr., age 71, of Callahan, Florida passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on May 19, 1953, in Elmira, New York to Edwin D. MacMillan, Sr. and Coral June Bailey. In 1970, at age 17, Ed joined the United States Navy. He was called to active duty and sent to Jacksonville, Florida to the Naval Air Station. While there, Ed met and later married the love of his life Beth. Ed was a very family-oriented man and cherished time with his wife and children. He was an avid motorcycle rider and greatly enjoyed camping in North Carolina. For 35 years, Ed positively touched the lives of many students throughout his career as a teacher and coach for the Nassau County School District.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Beth; two daughters, Amy (Wesley) Padgett and Carrie MacMillan; and one grandson, Henry Padgett.
A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan Methodist Church with Pastor Bodie Riddle officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association (https://act.alz.org) in Ed's honor.
