Mr. Merta is survived by his three children, Brian Joseph Merta, daughter Laurie Lynn Lutz (Lt. Col Ken Lutz US Army) and Gregory John Merta (Masami Ito) two granddaughter Aubrey Ann Lutz and Nyssa Merta. He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years Maree Evelyn Merta, parents Annie and John C. Merta and a sister Barbara Bender.
