Sandra Jean Sanborn of Needville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at home. She was born in Edinburg, Texas, on June 21, 1941, to Louie and Ruby Burris. She graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in Pharr, Texas, in 1960. She graduated from McAllen Business School in McAllen, Texas, in 1961.

In 1959, her junior year, she met her best friend, Stanley R. Sanborn. They were married on May 20, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Pharr, Texas. On March 31, 1962, their daughter, Stephanie Ann, was born. In March 1963, they moved to Houston, Texas, where Steven Richard was born on December 19, 1963. In January 1973, they moved to Needville, Texas, where they lived together for 40½ years.

She is preceded in death by Stanley R. Sanborn; her mother, Ruby Burris; her father, L.D. Burris; her in-laws, Jeff and Rosalie Sanborn; and her grandparents, Silas and Lydia Bailey, and Marshall and Maude Burris.

She worked at Wil-Ron in Richmond, Texas, from 1977 to 1979. She then went to work for Duffie Monroe Care Center in June 1979 until February 2004, which changed its name in September 1982 to Blake Phillips Care Center and then changed ownership in 1992 to Irvin Rabinowitz. She volunteered at OakBend Medical Center from July 5, 2005, until March 2025.

Her hobbies were sewing, reading, painting ceramic pieces, and working in the yard."Nana as she was called,enjoyed her grandkids and great grandkids they were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Witzkoski and her husband, Stephen, of Wharton, Texas; her son, Steven R. Sanborn (ex-wife Wendy Zakem) of Rosenberg, Texas; her granddaughters, Amber Goodyear and her husband Chris; Kara Dorchak and her Husband James , and Haley Sanborn ; her sister, Gerry Schroeder of Cypress, Texas; and her brother, Danny Burris and his wife, Patsy, of Longview, Texas; great-grandchildren Charlie and Isabelle Goodyear, and Elliott Dorchak; along with numerous great-nieces and nephews.
