Virginia Severin Bailey, age 88 of Needville, TX, passed away on February 8, 2026 in Richmond, TX.

Virginia was born on February 5, 1938 in Sugarland, TX to Frank Henry Severin and Mildred Larkin Severin.

Virginia was a proud graduate of the University of Houston and went on to earn her Masters at Prairie View A & M. She was longtime educator for Lamar CISD. She was a teacher and then went on to be counselor. She was an advocate for children throughout her lifetime. She touched many lives during her career.

Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her family and friends meant the world to her. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms. She had a smile and a laugh that were unforgettable. She faced life’s adversities with grace, grit, and a twinkle in her eye.

Her hobbies involved anything artistic or creative. She was an artist at heart and saw the world through an artist’s vision.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Bailey Dearman(Tommy), granddaughter Jordyn Phillips, great-granddaughter Blakeleigh Muirheid, brother Jimmy Severin, niece Shelly Orsak(Steven), cousin Mary Tielke(Kerry), best friend Ruth Ann Lampson(Tommy), and numerous family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son Mark Todd, and her parents Frank and Mildred Severin.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 10:30am at E. P. Compean Funeral Directors, 1223 6th St., Rosenberg, TX 77471 with a reception following at Jane Long Elementary gym at 907 Main St. Richmond, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rosenberg Animal Shelter in honor of Virginia’s memory.
